Schedule for August 16-19

Hi. I'm starting this blog because I like to follow the results of joshi puroresu, or Japanese women's professional wrestling, which is MUCH better than the WWE Diva product.

By far the biggest event coming up this week is the OZ Academy show at Korakuen Hall on Thursday. This show is a memorial for the 10th Anniversary of the tragic passing of Plum Mariko after an in-ring accident suffered in a JWP match where Plum was teaming with Command Bolshoi against Mayumi Ozaki and Reiko (later Carlos) Amano. There will be a memorial before the show. The opener will feature Bolshoi and Carlos in a match where the stipulation will change minute by minute. Next is the debut of "Ryuma" in an OZ Men's Match. His real name is Mitsuhisa Sunabe and he competes in Pancrase in the featherweight division, so he's a little guy at about 135 lbs. He's supposed to be the male version of Mayumi Ozaki, but he'll have problems against the much bigger Daisuke Sekimoto from Big Japan. The third match is a mixed gender tag. AKINO and Dynamite Kansai have been squabbling, so they both got guys to team up with. AKINO did much better, as she got All Japan's Triple Crown holder Minoru Suzuki, while Kansai could only scrape up El Blazer.

The fourth match is a tag match for the Red Rose Cup. Ozaki broke up her tag team with Aja Kong at the last show. Mayumi thinks Aja is "impudent" and Aja thinks Mayumi is "selfish". I can't disagree with either. Ozaki has reformed D-FIX with KAORU and they will take on Toshie Uematsu and Ran Yu-Yu. The semi-main event is a classic GAEA girls matchup. Ever since Sonoko Kato came back after five years of rehabbing her poor shot knees, the evil girls in OZ have been trying to put her back on the shelf. Sonoko and Chikayo have been feuding most of this year. A few months back, the retired OZ Academy member Sugar Sato (who is much lighter now than at the end of her career) showed up at a show and made fun of Sonoko. Sonoko didn't care for taking crap from a housewife, so she got Meiko Satomura to reform their team to take on Chikayo and Sugar. The main event is a surprise match-up. Aja Kong has finally decided to make the first defense of her OZ Academy Openweight Title. She annoyed Ozaki by making her own match against a non-OZ wrestler. Seventeen year old Akari Okuda, Satomura's star pupil from SENDAI Girls Pro-Wrestling, was chosen for this match, or as Aja put it, "invited to hell". Okuda does figure to take a frightful beating and get carried out of Korakuen Hall in her Tokyo debut, unless there is some nonsense being planned by Ozaki or other OZ vixens.

In other action, Mariko Yoshida and IBUKI will have two small shows on Friday and Sunday, OZ Academy will run a house show in Sapporo on Saturday featuring Dynamite Kansai vs Manami Toyota, NEO will run two silly dojo shows on Saturday and Sunday, JWP will run a silly dojo show of their own on Sunday, and SENDAI Girls will run a Sunday house show in Kurihara City, featuring Meiko Satomura vs Toshie Uematsu. Oh, and there's a SUN Offer match in a ZERO-1 MAX show between Nanae Takahashi and Saki Maemura. The winner is in little doubt here.
