Results, August 18-31

Here's a variety of joshi results from late August. First, OZ Academy ran a house show in Sapporo on the 18th. Carlos Amano had a good day, pinning Chikayo Nagashima in the opener and Hiroyo Muto in the 8-woman main event. AKINO and Dynamite Kansai also racked up two victories each, including Dynamite's singles victory over Manami Toyota. Mayumi Ozaki didn't have such a good day, being on the wrong end of both of her matches and eating a backfist from her friend turned rival Aja Kong.

Pro-Wrestling WAVE attracted a full house to Shin-Kiba 1st Ring for their debut show. GAMI won both of her matches, the serious opener over Kyoko Kimura and the comedy semi-final over the NEO Machine Gunz. Toshie Uematsu and Ran Yu-Yu defeated Yumi Ohka and Michiko Ohmukai in WAVE's first main event.

SUN had a pair of shows, including Amazing Kong, back at the helm of the Real Evil Makers (R.E.M.) In Nagoya, Saki Maemura and El Blazer defeated Uematsu and Takeshi Minamino as Maemura rolled up the guy. Maybe Saki will challenge for the mixed tag belts, assuming SUN remembers that they exist. The Double Kongs defeated Nanae and Hikaru in the main event, as Hikaru continues to struggle against Aja. At Shin-Kiba first ring, SUN got a bit of revenge as Nanae teamed with JWP's Azumi Hyuga to beat Amazing and Toshie in the main event, as Nanae got Uematsu in the NANARACKA. I want to see these recent shows, as R.E.M. is cool when they have the Double Kongs killing babyfaces and psycho deathmatch chick Kyoko Kimura and chickenshit punk Toshie Uematsu.

Some less appealing shows included the return of New AJW, which everyone probably thought had disappeared, and the LLPW 15th Anniversary Show. It doesn't look like the SUN girls are working New AJW shows anymore, and the card was basically a mix of JWP and S-Ovation talent. The most interesting sounding match was the semi-final, where Mariko Yoshida teamed with Ran Yu-Yu to beat Michiko Ohmukai and Tojuki Leon. Then all 12 women on the card had a battle royale. I guess the bus was running, because they got it done in less than 8 minutes. KAZUKI pinned Tomoka Nakagawa while all the veterans were already taking a shower before the hot water ran out.

LLPW announced that Mizuki Endo will be the new president. I hope she gives us more appealing cards in the future and phases out the old ladies and terrible comedy. I think LLPW needs to either fold or merge with someone like the Ito Dojo (Takako Inoue is connected with both) to have a future. The old ladies worked the curtain-jerker. Kandori didn't even win, as Harley Saito reversed Jumbo Hori's attempt at a powerbomb to win the match. Then two new trannies wrestled for 3 minutes and Hotta squashed Francoise in 3 minutes. The main event was President Eiger and Sayuri Okino claiming the vacant LLPW tag titles from Sendai's sister team of Chisako & Sachiko Kanari. The sad thing is that the rookie girls are probably more main-event worthy than most of the LLPW roster.
