Results, January 12-13

This batch of results is limited to this past weekend. NEO and JWP were in action on Saturday, while NEO, OZ, LLPW, and K-DOJO were active on Sunday. Action included two title matches and one title change.

JWP kicked off their 2008 at Itabashi Green Hall. Highlights included Keito over Kaori Yoneyama and tag champs on separate teams, as Tsubasa Kuragaki & Tojuki Leon beat Kayoko Haruyama & Arisa Nakajima after Arisa ate a lariat-o from Kuragaki. It was announced that a league (10 women divided into 2 blocks) will be run to decide on the next contender for Azumi Hyuga's title, to be defended at Korakuen Hall in April.

NEO were also at Itabashi on Saturday. They are having a 12 woman STAGE 08 tournament to decide on the next challenger for Haruka Matsuo's double titles at the next Korakuen Hall show on March 2nd. First round action saw Toshie Uematsu, Yoshiko Tamura, Misae Genki, and Yuki Miyazaki advance. The second round on 1/27 will see these four against competitors who drew first round byes. Notable was Genki defeating Matsuo. Mima Shimoda is returning to Mexico soon, but she beat fellow Asian luchadora Shu Shibutani.

NEO then traveled to Osaka on Sunday and performed at the Delfin Arena Dotonbori. Shu and Ayako Sato had a time-limit draw, Shimoda won her final match of this homecoming tour, beating Miyazaki and Matsuo in a triple threat, and Tamura & Genki retained the NEO tag titles by beating Kyoko Kimura and Atsuko Emoto, as Genki used the G-Driver on Kimura.

K-DOJO is kicking off 2008 with a tag league. The K-DOJO women teamed up at the show from Chiba Bluefield. Apple Miyuki & Yuu Yamagata even scored a victory. LLPW ran Korakuen Hall and it was a good night for the 40+ crowd, as Jumbo Hori, Jaguar Yokota, and Yumiko Hotta all scored victories. Hotta teamed up with two mysterious characters in "Blue Wolf" costumes to win the main event and continue this storyline. Sayuri Okino and Eiger are only in their 30s (juniors by LLPW standards), but they won as well as Okino pinned Francoise*.

Finally, OZ Academy were at Shinjuku FACE with the OZ Openweight title on the line. Devil Masami started her final year in puroresu with a count-out victory over Ran Yu-Yu, Dynamite Kansai and Manami Toyota taught IBUKI youngsters Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata a lesson, and D-FIX roughed up new friends Chikayo Nagashima and Sonoko Kato. Sonoko bled and lost to Mayumi's Ozakick. The main event saw the first title switch, as Carlos Amano used the Carlos Ghosn and took the title away from Aja Kong in arguably the biggest singles victory of her career. So it will be Amano defending in Sendai next month against the winner of the upcoming Sendai Girls tournament. Tournaments are popular right now.
