Schedule, January 3-13

Here is what's up in joshi puroresu for the first fortnight of 2008. The first joshi match of 2008 has already taken place, as Nanae Takahashi & Hikaru beat Saki Maemura & Natsuki*Taiyo on New Year's Day on the opening match of the ZERO-1 MAX card. There may not be many more (if any) of these SUN offer matches, or SUN matches of any kind, as the existence of SUN is in serious doubt at the moment. Apparently the new president of Z1-MAX is not interested in using the girls in offer matches.

January 4th is GAMI's 39th birthday and WAVE will celebrate it at Shinjuku FACE. We start with goofy scary stuff such as Eiger & Onryo against Toshie Uematsu & SUZKI. The lucha match is KAORU & Shu Shibutani against noki-A and Bullfight Sora. Yumi Ohka has a super challenge against Takako Inoue and the main event is GAMI & Ayako Sato against Azumi Hyuga & Misaki Ohata

MAKEHEN is putting on a Big Van Vader tribute on the 5th. The photogenic little purple thunder sisters will be there, as Mio challenges Fuuka while Io teams with Arisa Nakajima against Yuu Yamagata and dirty American SHIMMER hippiechick Daizee Haze.

The biggest event of the next few weeks is on Sunday the 6th, as NEO has their 10th anniversary show at Korakuen Hall (they decided not to remember the part about the original Neo Ladies going bankrupt). Youth Green (Aoi Kizuki and Nagisa Nozaki) challenge JWP (Nakajima & Asuka Ohki), Kimura & Atsuko Emoto practice for a NEO title shot by taking on Aya Yuki and Hiroyo Matsumoto, Japanese luchadoras Mima Shimoda and Shu Shibutani take on Yuki Miyazaki and Toshie Uematsu, the Memorial match features NEO originals Yoshiko Tamura & Misae Genki against Etsuko Mita and Tanny Mouse, and the main event is a 30 person battle royale. 29 have been announce so far, including the entire active NEO roster, Toshie & Ran, Ice Ribbon girls, JWPers, random indy sleaze guys, and someone yet to be announced. Maybe a certain someone is Ready to Fight again (at least briefly in a battle royale where she'll be protected and not take any bumps)???

After a several day respite, JWP and NEO will have a double shot at Itabashi Green Hall. The NEO card is incomplete, but features Mima Shimoda versus Shu Shibutani. JWP's main event is Tsubasa Kuragaki & Tojuki Leon against Kayoko Haruyama & Arisa Nakajima.

Sunday the 13th is a busy day with several promotions in action. K-DOJO has their usual double shot at Chiba BlueField. LLPW is still here and running Korakuen Hall. Highlights are Kandori & Jaguar vs Harley & Toshie. I think Toshie is here just because she wants to work for every promotion ever. The main event is Noriyo Tateno, Takako Inoue, and Mizuko Endo agaisnt Yumiko Hotta and 2 Blue Wolves.

NEO is in Osaka at the Delfin Arena. Shimoda's last match before returning to Mexico is a 3-way against Haruka Matsuo and Yuki Miyazaki. The main event is a tag title match, as Tamura & Genki defend against Kimura & Emoto.

Finally, the OZ Academy is at Shinjuku FACE and Ozaki is starting 2008 off in a really bitchy mood. She's apparently upset with the other members of the Academy and has declared "war". Her current allies seem to be KAORU, Police, and Mika Nishio and everyone else is sick to death of her shit. Devil Masami's first appearance in her final year is against Ran Yu-Yu. S-Ovation's 3S (Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata) get a stern test against Dynamite Kansai and Manami Toyota. After 2007's blood feud, Chikayo and Sonoko kissed and made up and will unite against Ozaki & KAORU. Aja Kong defends the OZ title against tournament winner Carlos Amano.
