Results, January 10-11

The first "Passion Red" show (a show produced by Nanae Takahashi's faction) took place on 1/10 at Itabashi Green Hall. It was a generally successful day for Passion Red. Kana had a time limit draw with junior champion Hiroyo Matsumoto, Natsuki*Taiyo teamed with Yumiko Hotta and pinned Io Shirai, and the Passion Red Three (Nanae, Natsuki, Kana) beat the Sendai trio of Meiko Satomura, Ryo Mizunami, and DASH Chisako, as little DASH ate a Nanaracka. It sounds likes they are teasing a future Nanae-Meiko singles match.

Today (1/11) was pretty busy. JWP's show featured a main event tag where Azumi Hyuga (teaming with Hotta and Keito) pinned JWP champion Kayoko Haruyama (teaming with tag champs Toshie Uematsu & Ran Yu-Yu). It looks like the build will be to a Haruyama-Hyuga rematch (Kayoko originally won the title last spring by targeting Azumi's bad knee, which subsequently was operated on). We could also see Hotta and Keito challenge Toshie/Ran.

The NEO show had the first round of the 12 woman "STAGE" tournament to determine the next NEO/NWA Pacific titles challenger. Haruka Matsuo beat Tanny Mouse, Natsuki*Taiyo beat Atsuko Emoto, Yoshiko Tamura beat Ayumi Kurihara, and Kyoko Inoue defeated Kana. The second round sees Matsuo vs Hiroyo Matsumoto, Natsuki vs Etsuko Mita, Tamura vs Yuki Miyazaki, and Inoue vs Kyoko Kimura. Semifinals will then be determined by a random draw.

In the land of OZ, we had a title change. Mayumi Ozaki defeated Carlos Amano with the help of poison mist, completing a long series of dirty tricks over the past several months. Ozaki put a bounty on Amano, had her gang interfere in all of the OZ League matches, had Takako Inoue blatantly throw a match to give Mayumi 2 needed points, and then screwed Chikayo Nagashima in the league finals by getting Police as the referee. In the undercard, Sonoko Kato beat Ran Yu-Yu and seems to be Ozaki's first challenger (or "first kill" as Ozaki put it). Dynamite Kansai teamed with Tomoka Nakagawa and defeated "Evil" Manami Toyota and Hiren, as Sendai's young turncoat took a ride on Splash Mountain. I expect Kansai to keep mowing through the Ozaki Army heels and for Mayumi to get past Sonoko, setting up a Ozaki/Kansai match later this year.
