This week in joshi puroresu featured many events and happenings, including Mayumi Ozaki and the Academy getting into interesting pinning predicaments, Fuuka and Apple Miyuki in denim, and Cherry's age remaining a fantasy.
WAVE got us going on Tuesday with another light weekday card. Highlights were Michiko Ohmukai using the Shining Wizard on Yumi Ohka and the Super Afro Machine Gunz (GAMI and Kyoko Kimura) failing to ~STOP the UEMATSU & RAN~.
Cherry worked a UNION show on Wednesday, losing to Tsubasa Kuragaki, fortunately with no further stipulations. There were several shows on Friday. IWA Japan featured Dump Matsumoto, Sasori, and Abdullah the Butcher, but the match went less than 6 minutes and the ending was Sasori beating Sachie Abe. Hopefully they got in some post-match mayhem. Saki Maemura gets to keep her AWA belt for now (14-13 vote by the AWA board) and then won a 3-way match in Hyogo. JWP were in the Dojo. Trainee Mayuka Shinzeki had her last exhibition before her debut in a few weeks, and Sache Abe used La Majistral on Arisa Nakajima to win the 6 woman Sweet Pototo match. Nikkan Sports failed to report who had to eat some yams.
The major show on Friday was the OZ Academy "BLACK ROSE" show, featuring the quarterfinals of the Next Contenders tournament. Carlos Amano, Dynamite Kansai, and AKINO won their matches. Amano and AKINO will meet, as will Kansai and Ran Yu-Yu, who had a bye. Ozaki and Aja beat NEO's Misae Genki and Yuki Miyazaki, as shown above. Chikayo and Ran won the main event over Toshie and Sonoko, as Nagashima got revenge on Kato.
Saturday was all about cute girls and Lee jeans. The special "BEGINNING" show sponsored by Lee featured joshi puro and music. Mai Ichii beat Mio Shirai. Takako Inoue teamed with Io Shirai and smacked Francoise* (teaming with Cherry) with the Backfist. Takako, Cherry, and Francoise then all reminisced about the 80s and 90s while the pop culture references went straight over Io's head. In the main event, Fuuka and Apple modeled denim wrestling wear, but got beat by Yuu Yamagata and Kyoko Kimura.
Lots of action on Sunday. The usual K-DOJO stuff happened. Yuu won in the early show, Apple lost in the late show. LLPW had an appearance at the 25th anniversary of some dojo. Mizuki Endo and Takako Inoue beat Noriyo Tateno and Harley Saito when Endo hit the ex-Jumping Bomb Angel with a Lariat. Strangely enough, that was the same match that was held at that dojo in 1982. WAVE had a show but the results haven't made it onto the tubes of the Internet yet.
JWP and NEO ran a double shot at the Tokyo Cinema Club. JWP had the afternoon. Asuka Ohki got a rare win (prepping her for her junior titles shot next month) by using the "Miracle Schoolboy" on Nagisa Nozaki. Michiko Ohmukai lost to Tojuki Leon in her final JWP appearance, as Leon used the Captured Buster. Azumi Hyuga and her team won the main event, as Hyuga pinned Kaori Yoneyama as payback for last week's upset. Those two will meet for the JWP Championship at JWP's next major show on December 9th.
NEO gave us rookie tag teams, as Ibuki's 3S (Hiroyo Matsumoto and Misaki Ohata) beat Youth Green (Nozaki and Ice Ribbon's Aoi Kizuki), Cherry beating Tanny Mouse and winning the right to keep her age a secret, and Yoshiko Tamura beating dual champ Haruka Matsuo in a tag match. I'm sure Tamura is gunning for a rematch. Will NEO go that way?
