Results, December 10-16

What happened this week? Quite a bit, as we had Hawaiians in Japan, grandmothers in the ring, upsets, the conclusion of a tournament, and the ending (?) of one big feud.

Chick Fights SUN, ZERO1-MAX, and HCW were involved in a series of matches all week in both Japan and Hawai'i. There were lots of silly stipulations and the status of the AWA belt is questionable with the expulsion of ZERO1-MAX from the AWA by Dale Gagner, which is like losing the combination to your high school locker years after you graduated. There were two matches where the loser had to dance in a "Co-Co Bra". Tracy Taylor lost both of these matches and I'm sure hetero Japanese men enjoyed her hula dance. I'm not sure if "Hula" Kong had to do the dance as well, but Aja did squash Natsuki*Taiyo. Hikaru and Osamu Namiguchi lost a match to Tracy and Minoru Fujita and had to eat "Nagano foods". Is the food in Nagano that bad? In Honolulu at "Saturday Night Slam", Hikaru lost to her male opponent "Superfly ETE", but Saki Maemura retained the AWA belt by beating Tracy Taylor. No report on what happened in Hawai'i on Sunday yet. Check for yourself at http://hcw808.proboards56.com, HCW's kayfabed message board.

The skyrocket took off on Friday night in Korakuen Hall, as LLPW had their first show there in months. Sayuri Okino and Eiger beat a worker who has an old lady gimmick (Obacchi Iizuka) and the real thing, Jumbo Hori who is supposedly now a grandma. It is plausible since I think she had her kids not longer after her retirment from AJW in 1985. Francoise lost her trial final to Jaguar Yokota, Takako Inoue & Harley Saito beat Shinobu Kandori and Ayako Sato, and Yumiko Hotta and mystery partner "Blue Wolf" defeated Mizuki Endo and Noriyo Tateno in the main event. How exciting. I think "Blue Wolf" is an ex-New Japan wrestler from Mongolia who's bouncing around the indies now.

Lots of fun and games in Chiba Prefecture, as Sakura Emi had her festival on Saturday. First, the Ice Ribbon kids, along with some joshi workers and Mr. Gannosuke, had a show, then NEO had their matches. Highlights include Youth Green (Nagisa Nozaki, Aoi Kizuki, and adviser Toshie Uematsu) losing to the strong JWP team of Tsubasa Kuragaki, Kayoko Haruyama, and Kaori Yoneyama, Haruka Matsuo beating Mai Ichii, and Emi and Yoshiko Tamura beating Manami Toyota and Yumiko Hotta, as Emi got the pin on Hotta.

K-DOJO ran shows on both Saturday and Sunday. Apple Miyuki got to team with TAKA Michinoku on Sunday and they won. Ito Dojo ran a rare show on Sunday at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. I haven't tracked down a set of results, but a blogger did have a photo of the winners, and if true, we have a big upset as the youngsters Ayako Sato and Hanako Kobayashi got through 3 matches and presumably the boss Ito and the trainer Hamada. Maybe these girls are up for a push and we could see a future challenge for tag titles in NEO or LLPW??

OZ Academy had their "Golden Rose" show at Shinjuku FACE and a lot happened in their storylines. In the opener, Mayumi Ozaki and Aja Kong faced KAORU and Police. Ozaki used this as her opportunity to screw Aja over, as it turned into a 4-on-1 handicap match (with Mika Nishio's limited help). Police got the pinfall on Aja after an Ozakick. The tournament for the #1 contender slot concluded, as Carlos Amano beat AKINO and Dynamite Kansai beat Ran Yu-Yu to advance to the finals, where Amano came out victorious over a bloodied Kansai in the main event. In the semi-main, Sonoko Kato and Yumiko Hotta beat Chikayo Nagashima and Manami Toyota when Hotta (busy this week) used the pyramid driver on Manami. Then there was a restart and Sonoko and Chikayo battled, with Chikayo winning and a seeming ending of the feud as they shook hands. I give this 4 months or so before Nagashima backstabs Kato again.
