Schedule, December 20-31

I'm going to be traveling for the next few weeks, so my updates here and at the JoshiFans forum will be limited, as I'll be online much less than usual :) Here's the schedule that I know of for the rest of 2007. I'll probably have a lag at getting these results up.

Weekday action comes from UNION on Thursday and MAKEHEN on Friday. Cherry and Miki Ishii will meet in a mixed tag match at Union, while both Shirai sisters will have matches in MAKEHEN. Mio faces armwrestling champion Yoko Yamada, while Io teams up with KAORU against Yuu Yamagata and Arisa Nakajima.

Saturday sees the 2nd Fuuka Matsuri. It's Fuuka Fuuka Fuuka at Shin-Kiba, as the Fuuka Rangers will perform some sort of music, Fuuka and Minoru Suzuki battle evil kidnappers NOSAWA & MAZADA, the Fuuka Kidd will try to save Christmas from the evil Black Santa, Mio and AKINO battle Io and Tsubasa Kuragaki, and Fuuka tries her luck with big ole Misae Genki.

Also on Saturday, the WAVE rolls into Kobe. In addition to the usual WAVE gang, Sonoko Kato, Dynamite Kansai, and Aja Kong are working this mini-tour. Kobe's main event is Aja, Toshie, and Ran against GAMI, Kyoko Kimura, and Kato. The same crew works Osaka on Sunday. The Osaka Pro guys get in on the fun, as Black Buffalo and Bullfight Sora face Asian Cougar and Cherry (who is an Asian cougar). Kansai faces Uematsu in singles action, Aja & Ran face KAORU & Megumi Yabushita, and the Super Afro Machine Gunz (GAMI & Kyoko Kimura) face the Bad Knee Girlz (Yumi Ohka & Sonoko Kato).

NEO, JWP, and K-DOJO will all be running shows from their dojos on Sunday the 23rd. JWP features a Christmas Tree match between Kaori Yoneyama & Tojuki Leon. I'm not quite sure how that works.

On Christmas Eve, NEO will be in Itabashi Green Hall. Announced so far is Tamura & Genki versus Kyoko Kimura & Atsuko Emoto. Ibuki #19 takes place at Shin-Kiba. Highlights include Kimura & Mariko Yoshida against the NEO team of Aya Yuki & Nagisa Nozaki, Apple Miyuki & Cherry against Tomoka Nakagawa & Aoi Kizuki, and tag partners Hiroyo Matsumoto and Misaki Ohata facing each other in the main event. ZERO-SUN is in Korakuen Hall. The SUN girls and friends and foes will all meet in Chick Royal 2007.

After a few days off, action resumes on the 28th with a JWP show from Tokyo Cinema Club, with a card to be determined by fan voting. The S-Ovation/Ibuki girls travel north to Sendai to face the Sendai Girls on the 29th, featuring Ryo Mizunami vs Kyoko Kimura, DASH Chisako and Sendai Sachiko (now known as the Cross Sisters) against Tomoka Nakagawa and Misaki Ohata, and the main event of junior champion Tyrannosaurus Okuda against Hiroyo Matsumoto. Remember, last December featured the Sendai Girls getting swept by Ibuki and behaving "unprofessionally", which made Meiko snap and dress them down in the ring and was the kayfabe reason why Senjo didn't go to Junior All Stars last year (they weren't "worthy"). I think their will be redemption for the original four girls and Senjo may finally win a show.

The year of joshi puroresu concludes on New Years' Eve afternoon with the Junior All Stars show from Korakuen Hall, sponsored this year by JWP after NEO revived the tradition last year. There are six matches scheduled so far. The opener is "Brand New Heroine", featuring the two youngest non-Ice Ribbon workers in joshi. NEO's Nagisa Nozaki (born 1990) faces Mayuka Niizeki of JWP, who debuted earlier this month and won't be 16 until next month (born January 1992). Damn I'm old. Match #2 has a "Sister, Sister" gimmick, as Sendai's Cross Sisters face MAKEHEN's Sexy Purple Thunder whatever girls. A battle royale for the Daily Sports Cup gets a lot of girls on the card, and has an additional prize for the winner.

Due to Ayumi Kurihara's misfortune (her broken collarbone didn't heal properly and an operation is needed), the winner of the battle royale takes Ayumi's spot in match #4-High Energy Women. This winner (my pick is Tomoka Nakagawa) will team with Kana and Misaki Ohata against Shu Shibutani, Cherry, and Asuka Ohki. The semi-main is a Junior Graduation match. Fuuka and Natsuki*Taiyo face Yumi Ohka and Mai Ichii. I thought they would be juniors forever. The main event is billed as "best of juniors" and has Arisa Nakajima, Hiroyo Matsumoto, and Hanako Kobayashi against Tyrannosaurus Okuda, Aya Yuki, & Aoi Kizuki. I anticipate that Nakajima gets a receipt from losing the junior belts to Okuda and picks up the win here.
