Results, January 4-10

The Fourth of January is the biggest day of the year in the world of professional wrestling. No, I'm not talking about ~MONDAY NITE WARZ~!!!! (the AARP edition) or even ~FORTYONEIMEANTWENTYONETHOUSANDPEEPSATDATOKYODOMEZ~!!!! No, I'm talking about the double shot of Ice Ribbon and WAVE at Shinjuku FACE.

First up was Ice Ribbon. We had a decision match for the vacant International Ice Ribbon tag titles and the end of the SUPER ICE CUP. The new tag queens are Hiroyo Matsumoto and Hamuko Hoshi, as they beat Nanae Takahashi & Mai Ichii. Hoshi pinned IchiMai, who really is the 21st century Bomber Hikari, and Hiroyo has her third different tag title of her young career. Hoshi's not quite the legendary partner that Aja Kong (in OZ Academy) or Kyoko Inoue (in NEO) was. The semifinals of the SUPER ICE CUP saw Emi Sakura beat young Hikari Minami and Tsukasa Fujimoto win the battle of the Three Count reality show gurlz over Hikaru Shida. Then Fujimoto pinned Emi in EIGHT FUCKING SECONDS to win the SUPER ICE CUP and become the new Ice Ribbon X60 champion. Holy flukez! Now Emi can stop eating those fat burning tacos on the Taco Bell Drive-Thru Diet Menu and let herself eat a Big Mac and get up to 61 kg.

WAVE likes to run directly against the Dome show. They claimed about 240 people showed up. At least the WAVE ticket taker is more accurate at counting than New Japan's. The Fourth of January happens to be GAMI's birthday (41), so she gets to beat youngsters and have cake shoved in her mug. GAMI defeated new junior champion Ryo Mizunami, and then actually lost in a 3WAY tag match, being simultaneously pinned by Bullfight Sora and Sakura Hirota (yeah, she's back). LOLZ. Then Moeka Haruhi, partnered with Aja Kong in a classic beauty & punter team, pinned her trainer Toshie Uematsu. Yumi Ohka failed to get a big win, as Mayumi Ozaki did her in with poison mist. Ayumi Kurihara, in her new "I want to look like Tamura-san gladiatoress" outfit, beat Shu Shibutani in the main event.

The weekend featured OZ and JWP shows.  In OZ Academy, it appears that current champ Carlos Amano and former champ Manami Toyota are going to have a five match series against each other.  The first of these matches saw Toyota pin Amano in a non-title match. Mayumi Ozaki (w/Takako Inoue) and KAORU (w/Aja Kong) bled a lot and the match ended in a no-contest due to referee stop.  Sonoko Kato pinned Ran Yu-Yu in a 6 woman tag, setting up yet another Chikayo/Sonoko vs Ran/AKINO tag title match.

The JWP show had the first round of matches in the Open Class Challenge league, featuring JWP vs outsiders.  JWP had a good day, with Kaori Yoneyama, Sachie Abe, and Leon (the Tojuki part of the name has been dropped) winning (over Yumi Ohka, Emi Sakura, and Passion Hottei), and Tsubasa Kuragaki going to a draw with Nanae Takahashi.  Only Keito lost, and Ran Yu-Yu isn't that much of an outsider.

I don't know anything for sure if/when it will return. There's this from another board, but I'm not sure if it is correct.
