Results, February 10-14

Several groups saw action this week.  Ice Ribbon had the usual Wednesday/Saturday line up from the Isami Wrestle Budokan out in Warabi City, Saitama. Notable results were the Makoto/Hikaru Shida team picking up a win over Nanae Takahashi & Tsukasa Fujimoto in Wednesday's main event (Makoto using a German Suplex on Fujimoto) and little Riho retaining the Triangle Ribbon Championship over Makoto & Fujimoto on Saturday.

The final two Ibuki shows on Thursday saw quite a bit.  We had the retirement of the Mongolian wrestler Esui, the return of Mariko Yoshida in two short exhibition matches, Meiko Satomura & DASH Chisako beat Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata when Meiko put Hiroyo to sleep, Kyoko Kimura beat usual partner Atsuko Emoto with a Big Boot in the main event of the matinee, and the Kimura/Matsumoto/Shibutani team beat the Emoto/Kurihara/Ohata team in the final Ibuki match when Hiroyo used a Liger Bomb on Ohata.  Yoshida was a bit inscrutable as usual regarding her plans, but it sounds like S-Ovation will return with something that's not Ibuki this summer.

WAVE was in action late Saturday night (really early Valentine's Day morning).  They had a 4 woman "Garters" championship for creeps and perverts, with Moeka Haruhi emerging as champ in a field including Toshie Uematsu, Cherry, and Shu Shibutani.  GAMI sat this one out, wisely.  Ryo Mizunami defeated the comedy duo of Bullfight Sora and Sakura Hirota in consecutive singles matches, and Haruhi/Ohata/Yuki Miyazaki won the main event over GAMI and the Shirais by 2 falls to one.  GAMI got the first fall on Misaki, then Miyazaki used a Moonsault on Mio and Misaki got the victory by getting a revenge pin on GAMI.

Ito Dojo held a rare show.  Too bad birthday girl Ayako Hamada is spending her 29th birthday at a Chili's in suburban Orlando with Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, and Brian Knobbs, who ate all the nachos and jalapeno poppers himself.  We did have the usual old ladies beat younger ladies routine, with Kaoru Ito teaming with Tomoko Watanabe again to beat Shibutani & Asami Kawasaki, Takako Inoue beating Tomoko Morii, and Manami Toyota beating Kyoko Kimura.  There was an upset in the main event, as Ayako Sato (teaming with Hanako Kobayashi and Noriyo Tateno) did get a rare pin on Big Auntie Ito (with Aja Kong and Yumiko Hotta).

JWP and NEO both ran Lazona Kawasaki Plaza Sol.  JWP's show saw a title change, as Natsuki*Taiyo recaptured the NEO High Speed Championship from Kaori Yoneyama.  Two league matches saw Tsubasa Kuragaki beat Yumi Ohka and Nanae Takahashi beat Sachie Abe and both seem fairly likely to end up meeting in the finals for a shot at Kayoko Haruyama's title.  The vacant JWP/Daily Sports tag titles will be decided in upcoming weeks in a six team tournament.  KAZUKI didn't have a partner, but recruited tag team stalwart Toshie Uematsu, and they drew a first round bye, along with the Natsuki*Taiyo/Kazumi Shimouma Passion Red squad.  First round matches will be Command Bolshoi/Megumi Yabushita vs Ayako Sato/Hanako Kobayashi and Kayoko Haruyama/Misaki Ohata vs Mio Shirai/Io Shirai.

NEO's show features their ever-dwindling roster, as all of the rookies seem to be gone for good, Nagisa Nozaki's still hurt as usual, and now the seemingly immune Aya Yuki is out.  She has a neck injury that was apparently suffered in her junior titles match against Ryo Mizunami at last month's Sendai Girls show.  Fortunately for NEO, they have a stable of strong free-lancers that regularly appear and access to Ice Ribbon for card fillers.  The main event was a NEO Tag Team Championship match, and the champs retained.  Yoshiko Tamura and Ayumi Kurihara thwarted off the Revolucion Amadola challengers Kimura & Emoto, with Ayumi scoring a big pin on Kimura for their first defense.

In injury updates, we have the previously mentioned Aya Yuki injury.  Severity of injury and date of return is not known at this point.  We do know that Basara will return on April 29th at the Vader Time show, which will be a mix of joshi and non-joshi action.  Apparently Vader is gonna try and wrestle, teaming with his son.  This show is at Shinjuku FACE the same day as the Kana Produce show, with the Kana-Meiko main event.  Maybe Basara and Meiko will run into each other and exchange valentines, or hugs, or dirty looks or kicks, or something. Kana's show will also have a lot of non-joshi action, including a Tatsumi Fujinami vs Yuki Ishikawa match that sounds pretty awesome.  In additon to Basara, Hiren should be back by April, as she's expected to appear in Sendai's tournament starting in early April.  Sendai Sachiko's screwed up ankle will not allow her to return in time for that event.
