Results, May 24-30

The two biggest stories of the week involved a retirement and a new "promotion", but let's start with the tail end of OZ Academy's mini-expedition to Hokkaido.  Last weekend, they ran Sapporo in a show featuring Carlos Amano breaking her nose while defending the OZ championship.  This injury forced her to miss Monday's joint show with Big Japan in Asahikawa.  In addition to some undercard mixed tags, we saw Tomoka Nakagawa get a win in her hometown, pinning Nao Komatsu in a tag.  The semi-main event was changed due to Amano's injury and became a three way match between Manami Toyota, Aja Kong, and Ayumi Kurihara, with Toyota getting a jackknife pin on Aja.

Ice Ribbon had their usual small shows.  The 12-year old Tsukushi got a pin on Tsukasa Fujimoto.  Fujimoto is Emi Sakura's next challenger for the ICEx60 title and this is a strange way to build to a title match.  Well, lots about Ice Ribbon is strange.  They unveiled "19 Pro", which is going to be an internet-only subpromotion with matches streamed live on USTREAM.  The name comes from the fact that the match will start at 19:00 Tokyo time (that's 6 AM Eastern in case you need to  establish your cred as a big-time joshi creep).  Sayaka Obihiro, the new adult rookie, seems to be a primary focus of this, as she talked about how since she can't wrestle in her hometown of Sapporo, that she'll still give them a chance to see her live.  The first 19 Pro match (no, I didn't see it, but results are posted) saw Obihiro lose to Kazumi Shimouma.  June 2nd will see Obihiro vs Makoto.  Set your alarms!

Bullfight Sora (aka Atsuko Emoto) is leaving puroresu.  The recent Revolucion Amandola show saw her final appearance as Emoto, and she also had her last MMA fight.  The retirement show was a WAVE event at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, attracting 326 fans which is strong by WAVE standards.  The undercard saw the first three matches of WAVE's summer league with Io Shirai, Shu Shibutani, and Kana all picking up victories over Sawako Shimono, Moeka Haruhi, and Yumi Ohka, respectively.  The main event was a series of five matches with people strongly associated with Sora/Emoto.  Sora first lost to Kyoko Kimura's Big Boot, then got pinned by her other R.A. associate Tomoka Nakagawa.  Two more losses followed, to Toshie Uematsu's Dragon Suplex and AKINO's Frankensteiner.  The finale was against GAMI and just about everyone got involved during the match.  The retired Michiko Ohmukai was there to help with the ring post spot.  Ryo Mizunami interfered, wearing a cow mask, with GAMI threatening to give her a one-way ticket home to Sendai.  Sora did get to go out a winner, as GAMI did the job.
