Results, October 16-21

Another week has come and gone. Let's catch up on joshi puroresu! It's Toshie Toshie Toshie (and Ran Yu-Yu too) this week.

In an annoying development, I can no longer obtain results and photos for Lady's Ring mobile site because I don't have a Japanese mobile phone. So that picture of the six girls announced to be in the Junior All Stars main event (top: Aya Yuki of NEO, Arisa Nakajima of JWP, Hiroyo Matsumoto of S-Ovation/Ibuki; bottom: Aoi Kizuki of Ice Ribbon, Tyrannosaurus Okuda of Sendai Girls, Hanako Kobayashi of Ito Dojo) might be my last from that source. In unfortuante news, the masked trainee YUKI for JWP will be unable to make her debut. She collapsed in practice and was hospitalized for a few days. A weak blood vessel was found in her brain and she cannot continue in contact sports. At least it was found before it was too late.

Tuesday night (the 16th) is WAVE night. They started the "Stem the Wave" series. Yumi Ohka has been relegated from main events to openers. That worked out for her, as she beat Misaki Ohata. Megumi Yabushita is a former judo star and Submission WAVE was made for her, as she beat Kyoko Kimura. Toshie and Ran beat Michiko Ohmukai and Francoise* in the main event, as collagen girl took the High Angle Uemastu. Ell oh ell.

Thursday and Friday night featured the first two rounds of the Chick Fever J league in SUN. Only Natsuki*Taiyo is mathematically eliminated with one round remaining before the finals-those matches will take place in November. We had some upsets on Thursday, including Toshie over "KY" Hotta and Saki Maemura beating Hikaru in 6 minutes. Hikaru and Hotta both won, over Uematsu and Maemura, on Friday and that zone has a 4-way tie with 2 points each. Nanae Takahashi and noki-A both have 3 points, as they went to a 30-minute draw against each other.

The main action on Sunday was a double shot at Shinjuku FACE. Oz had the matinee and JWP had the evening show. The final four matches of the first round of the Next Challenger tournament took place. AKINO, Yumiko Hotta, and Carlos Amano beat Kyoko Kimura, Hiroyo Muto, and Kaori Yoneyama, respectively. The OZ Men's match saw El Blazer and Ryuma both eliminated from the tourney by rule after a 10 minute time-limit draw. The quarterfinals on 11/23 feature Dynamite Kansai vs Manami Toyota, Ran Yu-Yu with a bye, AKINO vs Sayuri Okino, and Carlos Amano vs Yumiko Hotta. Don't expect Ran to have it that easy, especially after her pin of Mayumi Ozaki in the main event, after Aja accidentally struck Ozaki with the Uraken. I bet Ozaki will change rules or enter herself or do something to screw Ran.

JWP had the evening show. Arisa Nakajima used the Cutie Special on Misaki Ohata to keep the JWP Junior and POP titles. Team Uematsu triumphed over WANTED!? in their supposed final battle (yeah, right) as Toshie pinned KAZUKI after a mistaken Carlos Ghosn from Amano. Toshie and Ran are good at getting the opponents to do the dirty work. The main event saw Tsubasa and Kayoko Haruyama retain the JWP Tag titles over Manami Toyota and Etsuko Mita, as Kuragaki finally got her long desired pin on Manami with help from a lariat.

Oh, and there was a totally standard SUN offer match at a ZERO1-MAX show and the usual K-DOJO stuff.
