Results, November 12-18

The major events this week in joshi puroresu featured the end of SUN's Chick Fever J league, the revealing of the next challenger to the JWP Openweight belt, and the JWP vs Senjo clash in Sendai, where the girls had to fight without the services of ace Meiko Satomura.

The first event of the week was, as usual, WAVE's Tuesday night offering from Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Carlos Amano was better at head butts than Kyoko Kimura, Sonoko Kato was more serious than Yumi Ohka, and Tsubasa Kuragaki & Hiroyo Matsumoto failed to ~STOP THE UEMATSU~.

Thursday and Friday saw the conclusion of the Chick Fever J league that SUN started last month. All four competitors in the Coin Zone were tied with 2 points. Saki Maemura beat Toshie Uematsu and Hikaru beat KY Hotta to advance to a determination match and guarantee at least one SUN girl in the finals. The Cup Zone's final day featured some surprises. First, Kayoko Haruyama beat noki-A to reach 4 points. Nanae Takahashi only needed to beat Natsuki*Taiyo to win her block, but Natsuki, fighting for pride, pulled off the big upset with the Taiyo*Bomb to hand Haruyama a path to the final at Nanae's expense. Hikaru beat Saki in the opener on Friday to advance to the finals, but Kayoko's Guillotine Drop on Hikaru delivered the JWP wrestler the league title. No one knows what winning this league means. Future title shot? Money? A big trophy? Cake?

In miscellaneous action, K-DOJO had a show on Friday in front of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The conventioneers all joined the Apple Miyuki Army. She was on the winning team with Taka Michinoku and Ryota Chikuzen. K-DOJO did the usual two shows at Chiba BlueField on Saturday. Apple and Yuu both got beat by guys.

The Super Naughty Schoolgirls in Purple (i.e. Mio & Io Shirai) were on opposite teams on Saturday at the Super Bulls Fighting Group show. Mio & GAMI beat little sister Io & Toshie U. with a High Kick after GAMI hit Io with a lariat. The girls reunited on Sunday at a MAKEHEN show and took on Kyoko Kimura and Yuu Yamagata. Also, NEO had a dojo show and some of the OZ ladies actually do have a heart and wrestled at a charity event at Shinjuku FACE.

JWP ran "LINE OF HEAT" on Saturday at Akatsuka Public Hall. Outsiders fared well, as Manami Toyota beat Sachie Abe and Ran Yu-Yu defeated KAZUKI. In the main event, Kaori Yoneyama (teamed with Tsubasa Kuragaki) got the pin on champ Azumi Hyuga (partnered with Command Bolshoi). This win set up Hyuga's next title defense, on December 9th at the Korakuen Hall "JWP CLIMAX 2007" show. I suspect this match was booked after the cancellation of the Hyuga-Satomura title match and I expect Azumi to retain.

Then the JWP girls went to Sendai to challenge the Sendai Girls in "HARDSHIP" from Zepp Sendai. Mari Harada (Sendai #7) had her debut match, losing to Command Bolshoi. Four more losses for Senjo followed, including Azumi Hyuga destroying DASH Chisako in four minutes of fury. It sounds like it was a high-paced match while it lasted, but Hyuga was in no mood to play with her opponent and used the same Running Knee move that she injured Meiko with last month. Thankfully, no injury this time. The main event was a defense of the JWP Junior and POP (Princess of Pro-Wrestling) titles, held by JWP's Arisa Nakajima. After some trash-talking by both Nakajima and challenger Tyrannosaurus Okuda, Senjo finally got a happy ending after months of disappointment, as a diving knee to the back of the head separated Nakajima from her belts. President Jinsei Shinzaki was happy and presented Okuda with a 50000 yen bonus and a steak dinner. I bet Okuda will blog about that steak in the near future. I wonder how much cake she will be able to buy with her bonus, and if she'll share with the rest of the team?
