Results, October 28-November 1

We had three big stories in joshi puroresu this week. The first is potential bad news. It was announced that Ibuki will be going on hiatus. They will have their Korakuen Hall show next weekend and then one more show next year, but the future after that is murky. Mariko Yoshida hasn't wrestled since the end of 2008, and there is a strong possibility that she could be retiring and withdrawing completely from the joshi business. It would be a huge loss to not have her as a trainer and a booker giving the talented younger workers the chance that others can't or won't give them. It is possible that S-Ovation may continue in the joshi business without Yoshida. I think we'll know more next week if Yoshida appears and gives a statement.

Etsuko Mita's retirement road finally concluded with a big show at Korakuen Hall. Apparently, NEO used the full seating configuration and had their biggest crowd since their debut show. Too bad joshi can't get big crowds when someone from the glory days isn't retiring. Makoto was Mita's final victim, then Mita & Shimoda fell to Kyoko & Nanae, as Inoue ended Etsu's career with a Niagara Driver. Tons of current and former wrestlers came to the ceremony. Attendees, besides those on the card, included everyone from Ice Ribbon, JWP, OZ Academy, Kaoru Ito and the rest of Ito Dojo, Yoshida and the rest of Ibuki, Shinobu Kandori, Mizuki Endo, Megumi Yabushita, Ran Yu-Yu, all of the NEO OGs (Misae Genki, Haruka Matsuo, Yuka Shiina, Yuka Nakamura), and tons from AJW, like Manami Toyota, Toshiyo Yamada, Michiko Nagashima, Rie Tamada, Yumi Fukawa, Kumiko Maekawa, Momoe Nakanishi, Chapparita ASARI, and AKIRA FUCKING HOKUTO.

GAMI's 20th annivesary show had kind of a cool format. Each match represented one of the SIX promotions she has worked in her career, starting in the current day with WAVE and working back in time through The Woman, AtoZ, ARSION, LLWP, to the main event, which was a reunion of the JWP class of 1989. Hikari Fukuoka, Sumiko Saito, and Yasha Kurenai were making special returns from retirement. The main was LLPW (GAMI, Yasha, Endo) vs JWP (Bolshoi, Hikari, Sumiko). Bolshoi beat GAMI, then in a restart Fukuoka hit her trademark Moonsault Footstomp on GAMI (or should I saw Michiko Futagami). GAMI finally one after another restart, pinning Bolshoi. I don't know if Kurenai or Saito did much, but Hikari was said to be in great shape and form.
